We will leave Vienna around 9 AM and after a scenic drive through Vienna woods we will get to SCHALLABURG.

The castle is an imposing , cross-generational piece of art. With structures as old as the 11th century, it was converted into a Renaissance castle in the 16th century. The tier-cotta courtyard is unique in the world.

The large historical garden is a place of contemplation, a retreat for relaxing, picnicking, hanging around AND the very best place for ARCHERY.

After visiting the castle we will have plenty of time to enjoy medieval BOW & ARROW shooting!

 After lunch we will continue to Melk abbey. Only 10 minutes away. We will have a look to the gardens and to the abbey church. there is no guided tour planned.

Optional boat ride from Melk to Dürnstein is possible. If not, we take the car and drive to Dürnstein. Breathtaking views, great medieval characters everywhere. Since many centuries vine has been cultivated in the Wachau. The special climate, the ground and the careful work of the wine-growers let the grapes become excellent wines.

Every year the vintners produce high-qualities, the sorts "Riesling" and "Grüner Veltliner" of the Terraces in the Wachau are famous in the world.

Situated in the heart of the magnificent Wachau Valley, on the banks of the mighty River Danube, the charming town of Dürnstein offers the unique combination of a breathtaking scenery, traditional architecture, and places of historic interest. It was in the Kuenringer Castle, whose ruins still overlook Dürnstein, that the English King Richard Lionheart was held prisoner. 

After a guided walk uphill to see the ruins, you will maybe feel strong enough to taste another glass of vine.

After this unique day excursion  I will take you back to Vienna and drop you off at your hotel.
